March 16, 2020

Due to health and safety concerns related to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak in and around our community, the City of Roswell has postponed events through May 11th including the Bike Roswell! Mayor’s Ride and Roswell Moves! an Open Streets event, both set for Sunday, April 26.  Bike Roswell! Board of Directors fully supports this decision.  In addition to these events, Bike Roswell! will also postpone the club’s official Saturday morning and Thursday Night rides and all other organization events and gatherings until further notice.

On March 15, 2020, USA Cycling issued a statement recommending that race and event directors postpone or cancel all scheduled bicycle events immediately, including group rides (

With input from the City of Roswell, local health organizations and USA Cycling, we will continue to monitor the situation. Bike Roswell! will work with the City of Roswell! to announce a new date soon for Roswell Moves! and the Bike Roswell! Mayor’s Ride.  Once a new date has been finalized Bike Roswell will contact already registered riders and provide options to transfer or refund registration in event of a conflict with the new date.

Bike Roswell! will continue to share information with our members about reinstating group rides, meetings and other activities.

We hope that you will continue to enjoy riding your bicycle indoors on a stationary trainer, or outdoors in a responsible fashion. With any activities, please consider your own risk factors, as well as those friends/family in your home or in your care who may have heightened risk factors. Please refer to the precautions noted by the Centers for Disease Control as a resource (

For updates about local cycling races and rides that have been cancelled or postponed, please visit the Southeastern Cycling Facebook Group Page ( For updates specific to Bike Roswell!, please check our website or Facebook page.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in these uncertain times. May you and your family stay safe and healthy.

Bike Roswell fundraising efforts for Robert Moore Memorial Sculpture

Bike Roswell fundraising efforts for Robert Moore Memorial Sculpture

The cycling community lost an amazing advocate and friend last April 26th.

In addition to being a Bike Roswell board member, Robert Wyatt Moore was on the board of Olde Blind Dog Cycling Club and was an active volunteer for many local cycling groups. Robert was the headmaster of Mill Springs Academy and served in countless ways to support and nurture the education of his Mill Springs students. As a cyclist and group ride leader Robert embodied the selfless spirit of a “domestique”, the French word that translates as “servant”. Robert’s life of service left a legacy which is living on in the many lives he touched!

We have been given the opportunity to honor Robert by placing a memorial sculpture on The Green at Crabapple Market. Robert’s brother, Carl, is the artist working on this project. Carl has created a model, (see image) but we need to raise funds to cover the estimated $20,000 cost of this project. To kickstart the funding, an extraordinary pledge of $10,000 has been provided by a donor. Bike Roswell is privileged to lead the campaign to raise the remaining $10,000.

Your donation to Bike Roswell through this campaign will be restricted to the acquisition and placement of the sculpture. If the funds raised through this campaign exceed the cost, Bike Roswell will donate the balance to Mill Springs Academy in Robert’s name.
